Marilyn J. Meyer LMFT

Clinical Supervisor

Marilyn has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2004 and is currently in private practice in Santa Barbara. She also has over 40 years’ experience as an educator.

Her early clinical experience was primarily with children and youth in psychiatric hospital, residential treatment, and intensive treatment foster care settings, as well as youth transitioning out of these settings. During this time, she also supervised behavioral health counselors, provided clinical trainings for two non-profit agencies, and served as the Clinical Director for a small mental health clinic in Pasadena.

Marilyn’s work over the past 15 years has focused on adults and couples in private practice as well as clinical supervision. Her therapeutic orientation is an integration of Jungian-oriented depth psychology with the somatic approach she learned from her training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. She is also trained in EMDR.

Marilyn is an alumna of Pacifica Graduate Institute and has been adjunct faculty since 2012, where she co-developed the first Community Mental Health course and is currently teaching Clinical Practice, Somatic Psychology, and Archetypal/Imaginal Psychology.

Balancing out her work life, Marilyn finds time for creative play as a singer-songwriter, performing around town with her husband and other musicians whenever possible.

Special areas of interest and expertise include: unmothered women, codependence and enmeshed families, spirituality, navigating menopause and post-menopause, recovery from fat shame, over-functioning and hyper-responsibility, creativity blocks, and energetic boundaries.
