Allie Michie AMFT
Clinician
Hi! I’m Allie Michie, AMFT159347 (she/her/hers), an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, under the supervision of Claire Blakey, MA, LMFT119518, PMH-C. I see clients in-person in Santa Barbara, CA, and virtually throughout California through the Center for Psychotherapy and Integrative Health.
I work with couples, individuals, and teens moving through anxiety, grief, and the kind of life transitions that make you stop and check in with yourself: a career that isn’t working anymore, a relationship changing shape, a family reorganizing itself, or trying to figure out what you actually want life to look like from here.
With couples, the work is often about rebuilding connection and learning to share what you feel and need as you plan for the next chapter together. And sometimes, that might mean parting ways with more clarity and respect.
With individuals, it’s often burnout, shifting relationships, future planning, or the many kinds of loss that come with living. A lot of the people I work with are lifelong people-pleasers: the steady ones, often the ones who’ve been “the one no one needs to worry about.” They keep things running, keep everyone comfortable, and somewhere along the way, they quietly lose track of what they want. Together we can get curious about where that pattern comes from, build boundaries that feel doable, and create space for your own needs. We’ll work on finding your own voice: what you think, feel, and want when no one else is in the room. There’s room here, too, for the tender parts of your story that feel scary or unknown, and for values that are changing and may or may not fit anymore.
With teens, the work is everything from complex family dynamics and friendship stress to grief, identity questions, the pressure to keep everyone happy, and the weight of growing up that isn’t acknowledged nearly enough.
Grief runs through a lot of this work, and often not only the loss of a person. I make room for the quieter losses too: an old version of your life, a relationship, or the person you thought you might be by now.
My work is rooted in Attachment Theory, with Person-Centered, Family Systems, and Mindfulness-based approaches. In practice, that means we go at your pace, and our relationship is a real part of the work. I hold an M.S. in Counseling Psychology (MFT Emphasis) from California Lutheran University.
If any of this sounds familiar, I’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to have the right words when you reach out. We can figure it out together.

“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom."
