Course Description
There is a great amount of interest in the effects of the brain on behavior. What is overlooked is that approximately 20% of the population display the personality traits of people who are highly sensitive. Many people coming to us for help display these characteristics. This workshop will identify and discern who is highly sensitive and who presents with more serious psychological issues. Join us to learn more about this misunderstood population!
Learning Objectives
- Define and articulate the term ‘Highly Sensitive Person’ .
- Learn how to identify those with HSP and distinguish it from 5 common personality disorder diagnoses.
- Identify 5 strategies for working with a HSP in clinical settings.
- Learn 1 conceptual framework for helping a HSP break out of their sensitivity cycle.
Hours: Course meets qualifications for 3 hours of continuing education credit for LMFT’s, LCSW’s, LPCC’s, and LEP’s as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Instructor: Gary Linker, Ph.D. M.F.T. is the co-founder of Pacifica Graduate Institute and has been a practicing psychotherapist for 46 years. He worked closely with Elaine Aron, one of the founders of Highly Sensitive work. He continues to practice and has a cadre of MFT interns in his private practice and at the Center for Successful Aging.
