Heather Marshall AMFT

Clinician

Life transitions and past traumas can often result in symptoms of depression, anxiety, panic, and coping through substance abuse. I work with my clients to manage these symptoms, cultivate more self-awareness, and develop increased capacity for self-compassion. I help them to frame current stressors in the context of the larger systems they operate in (society, family), and evaluate existing coping strategies to separate what’s working from what’s not. Together, we shine a light on patterns of thinking and behaviors that keep you feeling stuck. I customize my approach to each individual, with the initial goal of managing immediate symptoms and addressing what’s brought you to therapy at this moment. This might look like mindfulness practices, CBT, breathwork, or a somatic approach when it makes sense and feels safe. This sets the stage for us to deepen our work together in a powerful way.

With my younger clients, I focus on building a solid foundation of trust, and modeling authenticity to help kids meet the most confident and relaxed version of themselves. Through play therapy, art, and some laughter, they can practice being who they truly are, and open up at their own pace. I emphasize emotional vocabulary and practicing coping skills for self-regulation in tough moments – tools that kids can take out into the world and use on their own.

I am currently accepting new clients and invite you to contact me to schedule a 15-minute, no-cost consultation to see if we might make a good team.
