Emotion Focused Therapy

An emotion focused therapy for couples (EFT-c) approach addresses conflict at its emotional root.  It identifies each partner’s core emotional wounds and attachment style and teaches couples how to help each other rather than get caught in unproductive conflict.  This approach work well for couples who love each other but find themselves caught in never-ending fights or unable to feel safe, seen, heard, and understood in the relationship.  EFT-c helps couples gain insight into their emotional patterns and then enact new, more positive ways of communicating that restore safety, love, and trust in the relationship.

Intensive couples therapy is a two-week program designed to stabilize a relationship in crisis (a relationship at the edge of separating or unbearably painful). With a combination of couples and individual sessions, intensive therapy helps couples get to the root of what is happening and develop the tools and skills to navigate their core relational conflicts. Six months of therapy are condensed into two weeks allowing couples to make quick and lasting progress. Instead of going through the long process of traditional therapy, this intensive allows couples to get a full course of therapy quickly in order to have more time to live without fighting.

This couples intensive can be done online or in-person and consists of two weeks of intensive couples therapy with concurrent individual sessions to process and speed up the couples work. It is a deep dive into your relationship dynamics – the good, bad, and ugly. Participants often report breakthroughs in their ability to communicate, self-growth, empowerment, and more connection.

"Fears and expectations that date back to earlier experiences of dependency, but that didn't arise during courtship or dating, are activated as commitment to the relationship increases. As a result, partners start to anticipate the worst, not the best from their relationship."
